Wordless Wednesday

A Simple Call

An old friend of mine called me this morning
to let me know he's praying for me.

It's unexpected calls like that
that really sooth the heart.

C'mon Martha

I owe cookies to some guys at work.
Their request: white chocolate peanut butter
You'd think you could just make milk chocolate peanut butter
and substitute white chocolate?
Nope. Not as good.

I've tried three recipes.
And finally settled on Martha's

But what happens? Too crispy!
Martha says to cook 'em 10 minutes too long.
C'mon Martha, you're THE friggen Susie-Homemaker.
What were you thinking? :)

LEFT: my way. RIGHT: Martha's way.
Any recipe recommendations for white chocolate peanut butter cookies?
I'm still in the hunt for the best recipe.

Cuddling with the Hubs

Rain, Rain, Go Away..

Whenever it rains like this, I wish I was here

Or here
Or here
Or here

Or here
I'm really a sunshine kind of girl.

Roger That, Loud N' Clear

For the past few years or so,
the Spirit and I have had an ongoing conversation
about vocation and ministry
worth and willingness
desire and dedication
fear and power

Sometimes, the Spirit has spoken
and I have jumped out of my seat in response

Other times, the Spirit has spoken
and I've been too busy to hear Him
too insensitive to His voice to trust Him

And still other times, the Spirit has spoken
and I have blatantly plugged my ears
and sung "Na Na Na, I can't hear you"

Well, I think He's gotten to the point
where He may or may not be slightly irritated with me
Because He spoke loud and clear at church yesterday
Has that ever happened to you? It's powerful.

Our pastor was referencing the life-saving fact
that our worth comes not from our careers
nor do our careers necessary limit the power of God in our lives
Pastor's example: being an IT guy

Then he mentioned our workplaces
and reminded us that those are ministry fields, too
Pastor's example: Qualcomm.

Really?
An IT person at Qualcomm?
Roger that.
I hear You loud and clear.

Weekend Riches

I feel rich this weekend

I got to
chat with my mahj
celebrate the marriage of Ben & Jenna
spend time with my sweet friend, Stephanie
spend a quiet Saturday morning alone with my mother-in-law
drink peppermint iced tea in the backyard
read Danielle Steele for hours
eat fresh fruit and homemade pastries
delight in the goodness of a 7-11 slurpee
take not one, but two afternoon naps
see Aniston and Butler in The Bounty Hunter
enjoy some tasty eats with my sister and her boyfriend
spend a lovely time at church
ride bikes on Coronado with my lover-boy
purchase a wedding gift for a very special friend
get my little car washed - sparkly and clean
hear that the CA homebuyer's credit was extended
and lounge around watching movies and the marriage ref

yup, whoever invented weekends gets my vote
for Best-Person-In-The-Universe!

Staycation Sunday

Simply put:
Jeremiah and I love to spend the weekends pretending we're on vacation.

Living in Sandy Ego, that's not terribly difficult.
So what was on the agenda this weekend?
Another bike ride in Coronado.

After church today, we headed down to the bay for a Sunday-Funday.
We rode all over the pretty little island and even stopped at the Del
for totally over-priced strawberry coladas and a stroll along the beach.
Goodness me, I love this city!
And I love enjoying it with my best friend.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ussher

We loved celebrating with Ben and Jenna last night!
Thought I'd share a few pictures
of their beautiful wedding at The Grand Tradition
oh, the memories :)

McDougal and his little one waiting for the ceremony to start
The Bridal Party all lined up and ready to get the show on the road
Adorable Ring Bearer and Flower Girl
Ben's face as he watched his bride come around the lake
Gotta love the carriage
Here comes the bride
Mmm.. beautiful
The Vows - so beautifully written

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ussher
The oh-crap,-we-haven't-taken-a-picture-yet picture
Definitely should have done that earlier in the night
Two words: Photo Booth.
Ben and Jenna,
Thanks for inviting us to share in the party,
the absolutely delicious food,
and the great time with friends.
We hope you have an awesome time in Hawaii!

Silly Boys

What happens when you work with a bunch of men?
They play silly pranks on each other.
Like randomly putting plungers around the office.
Weird.

3 down. 1 to go.

Remember when my handsome stud of a husband
passed his first and second CPA exams?

Well, drumroll please....

He passed his third exam, too!!

He's got one test left at the end of May.
Let's wish him luck and happy studying.

More Pennies from Heaven

There was a span of about three hours today where everything went so swimmingly, I couldn't help but walk around with a fat grin on my face.

I got an award at work.
The manager at Subway gave me a discount.
The guy at the mini mart covered me when I came up ten cents short.
I got a chance to talk to my grandparents for quite a while.
I had a few spare minutes to drift off into novel land.
And I spent the evening with some lovely ladies.

I love it when hump day is filled with such welcomed surprises.
Thanks, Wednesday -- you just made the rest of the week that much easier.

Reds and Yellows and Greens, Oh My!

Remember when I pined over these uber cute Anthro glasses last year?

They're totally in my cupboards now.
Thanks, Ma.

Trash-to-Treasure?

My creative juices were not flowing during sewing class last night.
In fact, I'm pretty sure I wasted half the class
chatting with new friends and staring at everyone else sewing diligently.
All I could muster up was a headband made of fabric and elastic scraps. [Please ignore the gawd-awful redish hair. It's disappearing at the end of April.]

Congrats, Poona

Congratulations to my sweet sister for finishing Esthetician school.
A couple weeks til she takes her State Boards and then she's certified.

Since she's worked so hard for the past six months,
I think it's about time she relax with a cup of tea
and this homemade candle.

I love you, Lys.
And I'm so proud of you!
