Date 37: Discovery Lake

After stuffing our face with burgers,

a walk around the lake only seemed appropriate.

On a Saturday morning, 

we headed up to San Marcos

for a walk around Discovery Lake

(and acai bowls afterwards. :))

There's a short (1 mi?) path around the lake

that's paved and relatively flat.

We spent the morning putting our feet to the pavement,

enjoying God's creation, and then relaxing on the dock.

The perfect way to kick off the weekend.

Brie is one of those peopleSure, we're not roommates anymore
so we don't spend countless late nights deep in conversation.
But we do spend the loveliest of Saturdays
finding quaint little places to share in friendship together.

While B was home from the farm this Christmas,
I had the pleasure of spending the morning at San Clemente Pier with her.
What a treasure it is to have a friend like B in my life.

If only her dreams and adventures would keep her
a little closer to home. ;-)

Sensory Saturday

I hear: the birds chirping, the little girls giggling by the pool, a man playing his guitar

I smell: candied walnuts, snickerdoodle cupcakes, lemon poppy seed scones, homemade tortillas and tamales, fragrant candles burning

I taste: delicious fresh pesto, a tuna sandwich from heaven, a strawberry-mango Italian cream soda, bbq sauce

I see: new neighbors, a dear friend and a clean bathroom or two

I feel: the summer-like sun on my skin, the freshly vacuumed carpet

The Aroma

This morning, our little apartment smelled of yummy candles
and delicious vanilla-strawberry waffles.

Is there any better way to start a Saturday?

Saturday Morning

While hubs was makin' a yummy breakfast of scrambled egg whites,
bell peppers, onion, Monterrey jack, fresh avocados and potatoes...


I was makin' this apron.

Benedict in Bed

Jeremiah's worked every Saturday morning since we've gotten married... except this one! I was so excited to enjoy Saturday morning together that I made Eggs Benedict to celebrate. It was a brand new recipe and as surprising as it sounds, I had actually never made eggs of any kind before. But our breakfast turned out rather tasty. Now that I know what the heck I'm doing, I'll have to add some yummy breakfast potatoes and fruit salad next time.
