My Little Rolling Cart

This little rolling cart used to make its home in the kitchen of our good family friends, the Stampleys. We shared many beautiful memories in that kitchen, laughing and loving as we made birthday cakes for baby Jesus, prepared snacks for summertime birthdays and organized and re-organized the cupboards with label makers and Tupperware.

When the Stampleys moved to a larger home with a big, roomy kitchen and a gorgeous island in the middle, they didn't really have a need for this little make-shift island anymore. While celebrating Christmas together in 2008, Earl took me out to the garage to show me the cart. He thought it might be a nice addition to the apartment Jeremiah and I would live in once we got married. Immediately, a thousand ideas flooded my mind and I eagerly agreed to take it off their hands.

A few weeks later, our dear friend Earl passed away. That was the last conversation I had had with him.

This Christmas, his sweet wife Saundra showed up at my doorstep with the cart in tow. What a special momento for their family to share with me as I am honored to have this darling little cart in our home now. I have spent a couple weekends giving it a bit of makeover and it now lives in our spare room, housing some of my craft supplies. Sometimes I slip in there just to gaze upon its beauty and to remember our special friend, Earl.

Here's the cart as it looked in the Stampley's little kitchen
what feels like many moons ago.

And again, once I covered it with 3 coats of an insanely bright yellow paint

Now this is what it looks like in our spare room.

A little wreath I made for it with my new flower looms.

The adorable antique embellishment stand my parents gave me for my birthday.

Some hanging supplies on one door.

And some cork board on the other.

And here it is, all closed up.

Thank you, Stampleys, for sharing this little treasure with me.
I just love it!
