Fa-la-la-la Fall

It's beginning to look a lot like Fall around our house.

The table is set.

The Fall garland is hung. The Fall candles are out.
And little pumpkins are popping up all over the place.
Goodness me, I love this time of year!

A Simple Fall Frame

I saw this frame on Craft Magazine a few weeks ago.
and since I've had a glassless frame
sitting in our spare room for the past couple months,
I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try it out.

I wrapped the frame with twine one afternoon,
but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do after that.

I clipped on a couple Diana prints at first,
and although it was kind of cute,
it just didn't have enough flair.

Then came Fall.

Ok, so maybe Fall hasn't completely and officially come,
but Labor Day has come and gone,
and Starbucks has pumpkin spice lattes for gosh sakes.

Anywho, Fall inspired me
(as it tends to do).

Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Dead.

I once had a quaint little clock hanging on my living room wall.
I made it with canvas, a set of clock hands and some spare fabric.

Well, as the batteries died
so did its ability to keep track of time. (duh!)

I guess I could have just replaced the batteries,
but I took this as an opportunity to switch things up a bit.

Enter: word art.

This quote is one of my faves,
so when I saw this little canvas on Pintrest,I just knew I had to make my own with the wise words of good ol' Frank.

From this shot, it looks like nothing but a blank canvas,
but I think it actually turned out pretty cute.

Izza Vase

Izze Sparkling Juice is one of my faves.
But after drinking some this week,
I realized the little bottles are just too cute to throw away.

So I spray painted them white
added a simple embellishment or two from my craft room
And filled the vase with a couple Fall-like flowers
I think it looks just lovely on our side table
and will look even better
with a pumpkin or two next to it in October. :)

Keeping Sane

Last night was one of those perfectly relaxing Friday nights.
You know, the kind that keep you sane.

I stopped by Kohl's and did some browsing after work.
And then I finished up some projects and watched E!
while the hubs was out at happy hour with his co-workers.

Once he got home,
we headed out for a spontaneous late night bonfire at the beach.
I love me some summer and I adore me some San Diego.

But back to the point...

We've had a couple problems at our house as of late.
1. We've had this empty wall next to our kitchen since...
well, since we moved in.
2. Our kitchen counter always seems to fill up
with bills, and receipts, and coupons, and pens, and mail, and...
3. We tried using Google Calendar to keep in sync with our plans,
but it just didn't catch on like we would've liked, so...

So last night I killed three birds with one stone.

This little wall project is now keeping me sane.

We can keep track of our plans,
have a central location to store bills, coupons and pens, and we no longer have a big empty wall.
Me likes.

If walls could speak...

ours would say:

And now they do.

Celebrating Us

I was once told that a couples' bedroom
should always only be about them.
Not necessary filled with pictures of their family, friends and kids,
but just a place to celebrate them.
Their memories. Their vows. Their relationship.

We obviously don't have any kids,
but so far, I've held to this advice.

We have pictures from our honeymoon,
sand from our wedding, a painting reminding us of our first kiss,
and a canvas filled with our marriage vows.

Last month, I started on this little craft to celebrate our anniversary.
And I just put the finishing touches on it this weekend...

The clipboards contain just a couple special pictures of us
and the chicken wire frame below
is filled with a handful of tangible memories

{ignore the fact that the quality of these pictures is awful}
Honeymooning in St. Thomas
Walking down the aisle
and a romantic weekend away
The first email Jeremiah sent me.
A movie ticket stub and a balloon from my 18th Birthday celebration.
Cards we've given and sent each other over the years, the first one from November 2004.
A remembrance of our first date {at Starbucks}.
And stationary from the night Jeremiah proposed.

It's so special to be reminded of where we've been together,
what we've been through,
and how faithfully the Lord has made His face to shine upon us.

Fa La La

Remember this lovely little treasure?

Well, with it's help
and the help of a little holiday elf [Read: Me] ...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the McLeod household!

Close up of the Disney villages my MIL got for me.
Thanks, Tina!

Before&After: The Living Room

Our living room is by no means complete
[To Do: Mount TV, Hang pretties on the wall, etc.]
But I thought I'd share a few more pictures anyway...

Unfortunately, I didn't document e.v.e.r.y step,
but I think you'll get the idea.
