If I'm having a good hair day, I can conquer the world. I keep at least 4 different calendars up-to-date during a given week. I have still have sore calves because of a run I went on THREE days ago. Something Like Silas is still my favorite band. I'm an ESFJ according to the Keirsey Temperament test. My entire mood can change just by walking into Michaels. It's a regular occurrence for me to cry during a TV show or movie. Mondays are actually one of my favorite workdays. I want to re-decorate our house about every third day. I keep up-to-date with my Facebook feed, like the entire thing.
My creative juices were not flowing during sewing class last night.
In fact, I'm pretty sure I wasted half the class chatting with new friends and staring at everyone else sewing diligently. All I could muster up was a headband made of fabric and elastic scraps.[Please ignore the gawd-awful redish hair. It's disappearing at the end of April.]
Thanksgiving at my parents house: My family, Debbie & Blaire, Fresh Balsam, Lyssa’s funnies. The food.
Breakfast with Jen. The French Bakery.
Thanksgiving with the McLeods. Cutting down their Christmas tree. Playing cards.
My hair appointment.
Pottery Barn’s Holiday Decorating Class.
And it’s all building up to Monday evening when Jeremiah’s second CPA test will be taken and we get to celebrate. Celebrate a Study Break. Celebrate our 6 Month Wedding Anniversary. And Celebrate Christmastime.
We’ll be dining delectably and decking our halls with a log in the fireplace, Christmas music in the air, and yummy Christmas candles!
After I got married, I cut my hair... for a few different reasons.
1. I've always wondered what it'd be like to have short hair since it looks so darn cute on a lot of other people.
2. I've somehow associated short hair with maturity and figured marriage was a good mark of 'maturity' and therefore a good time to go the short hair route.
3. I was in the mood for a little something new.
4. I felt like a new me and kind of wanted to look like a new me too.
Well. It was a bad choice.
It doesn't fit in a pony tail without front and back pieces falling down.
It doesn't do too many cute hair styles.
It only looks good curlyHALF as much as it did when it was long. And we all know that wasn't often.
It doesn't make a full bun very well at all, just a little nub.
It doesn't make me feel terribly more mature. In fact, I think it makes me look like a little girl.
My "mood for a little something new" has warn off.
I find myself constantly looking at pictures of me with longer hair.
Bottom line is: I'm growing it out again. Grow quickly little locks.
I wasn't sure at first if I didn't like the hair color, the hair cut, or both. And I've come to decide it's just the cut. While I do miss my golden locks, I'm enjoying the darker shade so long as it doesn't turn reddish. I don't do reddish.
The plus side, the short hair makes me feel like I don't have much physical beauty to offer the world (okay, i didn't mean that quite as harsh as it came out) and has thus made me look for other contributions I can make to the world, perhaps contributions lasting longer than fleeting beauty. Like generosity. And creativity. And love. Gotta have love.
Yesterday, I got a new haircut and we had Mom & Dad McLeod over for dinner. The menu? Pesto chicken with tomatoes and mozzarella, garlic cilantro potatoes, grilled asparagus and fresh fruit. And for dessert, pizookie. Mmm. Now if only I didn't lose at cards every time we play.
I rarely have good curly hair days. Like maybe three times a year. And today is one of those days. It feels almost magical. Like I can do anything. Sad. True.
