Ole!

I realize I'm playing catch-up a bit, but honestly, how can you overlook Cinco de Mayo? =)

Born in Southern California, growing up in bilingual classes, and practically living at Lourdes for much of High School... Cinco de Mayo is near&dear to my heart. :)
History lesson of the day: Most people think Cinco de Mayo is Mexican Independence Day. No sir, that's actually in September. Cinco de Mayo marks the victory of Mexico over the French in the Battle of Puebla. A battle they weren't expected to win.

Here I am in third grade
Reciting the story
in Spanish.

El día era el cinco de mayo de un mil ochocientos sesenta y dos. La ciudad de Puebla estaba brillante y orgullosa en el sol de la mañana como el eje ejército mexicano esperaba a luchar.

Unfortunately, I was unable to dress up and recite the whole story in Spanish again. (i know, you're bummed!)
So instead... we went to On the Border!
Gosh, they have the best Southwest Chicken Tacos this side of the border.
Mmmm.
