February: the best of my days

 Where does the time go?
I can't believe it's already March!

February marked my 26th birthday,
the start of softball season,
and some intentional time spent with people I love

The best of my days were...

11. A great, long, life-giving chat with my co-worker
12. Getting to pitch batting practice (for the first time since I was in high school :))
13. Finally finishing the implant process for my new tooth.
14. A Valentine's Day that looks just like any other day - extra-special
15. Wearing a new dress on a sunny day
16. Scrimmaging
17. Dreaming and planning with Jeremiah
18. A fun and spontaneous day off work
19. A productive night at home
20. Our first game
21. Crafting. For the first time in a long time

Those days

Those days

Those days when you're tired of looking in the mirror
and seeing your sin, your failures and your shortcomings.

Those days when you need an extra big helping of grace
to get you through the day.

Those days when He teaches you how to extend that grace to others
in light of yourself. in spite of yourself.

Those days when you couldn't possibly be more thankful
that God's plan didn't end in the garden.

Those days

like today

are the most precious of pennies.

------

Holy God,
thank You that You are God and we are not.
Thank You for revealing my need for You
even when it's painful, hurtful, and frustrating.
Thank you for the ways You've taught me grace.
What a beautiful melody.

... on a Monday morning

Because the necessity of thanksgiving is magnified on Monday mornings:

A spontaneous dinner with my sister
Lavender and honey gelato
A handful of hugs from grateful girls
Our first win
The warmth of the sun on my skin
Afternoon naps. Yes, plural.
Snuggling with the mister
Trying a new restaurant
Good friends
A cozy fire
Raspberry Shock Top
Conviction
My selfless husband
The view from Mt. Woodson
Peppermint Shampoo and LFO
A delicious breakfast smoothie
Sore legs after our hike yesterday
Listening to one of my favorite songs right now on the radio
Seeing a picture of my co-workers sweet new twins
Not feeling overwhelmed with email
Three reminders of thoughtful co-workers sitting on my desk
A refreshed attitude

Thank You, Lord.

In the morning

This morning,
I curled up in my favorite blanket,
lit one of my favorite candles,
and drank a warm cup of tea while I studied.

My body was comfy and cozy.
But my heart, it is wrestling.

Lord, that You would be the only God I serve.

Little Letters

Dear Murrays, rumor has it you've got heart-shaped cheese and chocolate cheddar lined up for Valentine's Day... #swoon -- Makes me wish I could hop on a plane and fly to the Village ASAP.

Dear gods, I never really thought Exodus 20:3 was something I struggle with. Boy, was I wrong. There are so many of you in my life, it's disgusting. You're motivating me, controlling me, and taking up value space in my heart. Start packin'.

Dear OHF, I'm so excited for your new brick and morter. I'll have to get my buns up there to shop.

Dear Bookshelf, you are uber full these days with all sorts of new goodies. Can't wait to read em all.

Dear Cute Husband, to celebrate my birthday on Monday you: A) slipped Season 5 of 24 into the grocery bags you carried in from the car on Monday. 10 points for always helping me bring in the groceries and a bonus 5 for the thoughtful birthday surprise. Boy do you know the way to my heart. B) drove across town to three different Cleaners until we found a Laundromat. I love your persistence when Siri led us astray C) promised to take care of me in my old age of 26 D) All of the above.

Dear Softball Season, you. make. me. giddy.

Dear Macaroni and Cheese, I miss you. I do. But I'd rather be able to fit into my pants.

Dear Clean White Board, you didn't last long but boy-oh-boy did you make my heart skip a beat.

Dear Papa, I can't wait to come spend the weekend with you. Here's to uninterrupted time together.

Dear Sweet Friends and Family, thank you all for the thoughtful birthday wishes. I had such a wonderful weekend celebrating.

Dear Wednesday, hump day what what?

Dear Superbowl Squares, I play you every year and you can't give me just one win? C'mon!
