Date 17: National Comedy Theatre

When Jeremiah and I decided to hit up the National Comedy Theater in Mission Hills,
we just knew we had to invite my sister for a double.

My sister is one of the funnies people I know
and she has a real love for live performances.

If you're looking for some fun entertainment,
I'd definitely recommend the NCT.

They have nightly improv shows each weekend
that are not only different every night,
but that are also filled with clean humor.

Plus, there a billion tasty restaurants nearby:
and several others on our list of places to try.

Working for the Weekend

Traveling makes me feel alive.
It doesn't need to be a big trip.
Heck, I still have never really been out of the country.
But Roadtrips, Weekend Getaways,
Island Vacations, New Cities...

It all makes me giddy.

I love airports
and taxis.
City buses and trains.
I like tall buildings.
Hidden parks.
Moving at my own pace.
I love touristy things
and mom and pop's.
I love it all.

Sure, I have dreams to visit Europe
and stay over the water in Tahiti.
I'd love to explore Australia,
bask in the sun of more Caribbean islands,
take in Hong Kong, and Africa...

But for now...

it's a short little weekend trip to the rainy city of San Francisco
that has me smiling ear to ear.
A simple little trip to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday.

but I'm just oh so excited.

Batesy Natesy

On Saturday, we took our annual trip to Bates Nut Farm
affectionately renamed Nate's Butt Farm by the locals. :)

We normally go with my sister each year,
but this year we also brought the Schan clan along for the ride.

We smelled (I mean saw..?) the animals
Played in the corn fieldsPicked out Pumpkins(and gourds!)Stuffed our faces with yummy food
(which I respectfully took zero pictures of - not very attractive)

... and of course took a bunch of pictures
As always, it was so much.
BNF hold so many memories
and it's the perfect way to usher in the Fall!

Where do you go pumpkin patching?

Imperfectly Perfect

So remember when we stayed in Coronado last month?
Well, we brought Diana along too.

Here's our staycation through her point of view.

and this one turned out completely messed up,
yet oh-so-beautiful

A Sacred Conversation

Last weekend,
my Papa, his sister and her husband
drove down to spend the afternoon with our family
eating lunch, watching football, and shootin' the breeze.

I hadn't seen my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Paul
for over a year and a half.
And I had surely never spent much one-on-one time with them.

Until that Sunday.

And as I sat and chatted with them,
it was a sacred moment for me.

It was as if the Lord had heard this prayer
and answered.

I got to know my Aunt and Uncle better,
I got to hear their stories. I got to laugh with them.

And in a way,
it was like spending a little extra time with my Gram.

Thank you, Lord.
For what felt like the shiniest of pennies.

Revisited - The Homemade Challenge: Thursday

On Sunday night, I decided to give those zucchini pizzas a chance.
I used an over-sized veggie from my Ma's garden (thanks!),
threw on a few toppings and threw 'em on the grill.

Verdict is... super simple and not too bad.
Even the boys liked 'em.

A couple slices of zucchini were a little too thick to cook fully,
but the others tasted pretty good.

They aren't really filling enough for a full meal,
but they'd be great as appetizers.
And they're totally South Beach friendly
(not that we're on SB or anything...)

STAYcation

My parents rented a cute little house in Coronado last week
and we took off a couple days to staycation with them.

When you live here, why wouldn't you?

It went a little something like this:

Eat. Play.

Bike. Eat. Draw. Read. Swim. Shop. Drink. Golf. Nap. Eat. Play.

Read. Eat. Walk. Read. Bike. Beach. Bike. Swim. Nap. Massage. Bike. Eat. Play.

Read. Eat. Nap. Read. Swim. Eat. Visit. Bike. Eat. Bike. Play.
Bike. Pay Respects. Bike. Eat. Bike. Play. Swim. Pose. Eat. Play. Relax.
Read. Bike. Eat. Bike. Walk. Drink. Bike. Eat. Read. Play. Eat. Play.

And of course picture-taking fits in there somewhere
er... everywhere
so I'll share a few

Twenty-Sixxx

Well, it's that time of the summer again.

This year, it's number twenty-six.
And we're celebrating with a nice little staycation.

Mahj + Pahj
Thank you for modeling such a beautiful marriage to us,
and for encouraging us and challenging us.
I don't think I ever expected to have so much stinkin fun
spending time with our parents.
You're some of our greatest friends.
and we love you!
Congratulations!!
