Date 27: Cinepolis

Picture this:

You've got your feet kicked up in a recliner, 

wrapped up in a blanket if you'd like.

Cocktail of choice in hand.

You're chowin' on somethin' yummy.

Maybe a burger. Maybe sushi. Maybe fondue.

And your watching a new movie on a humongous screen.

You will never want to go to a 'normal' theater again.

The Mister and I saw the new Batman at the Cinepolis in Del Mar.

And apart from staring at the Exit for half the movie

praying almost continuously for the families in Aurora,

Jeremiah and I really loved the experience.

In fact, I think we'll go again this weekend. :)

Advice:

Don't forget to get your tickets ahead of time.

The chairs are numbered like theater seats.

The best seats go fast.

Date 14: Santee Drive-in

So, I have to admit...

we were two of those people

who went to see Hunger Games

without reading the books first.

I know, we're lame.

But...

We absolutely loved it

and have since bought and read the books.

Anywho, we hadn't been to the Drive-in since we were kids

and neither of us to the one in Santee

so we thought it'd be fun to head down there after dinner one night

and catch a showing of Hunger Games under the stars.

We picked up some popcorn and red vines,

snuggled up with blankets in our car

and absolutely loved the whole Drive-in experience.

The last time I had been, 

you still had to roll down your window and clip the speaker on.
But apparently these days, you just tune your radio to the right station

and you can stay snuggled warm in your car 

without a peep from the crying baby in the neighboring car.

I must have said at least ten times that night

"Oh my gosh, this is so dang fun!

We should have brought your Letterman's jacket!!"

Have you gone to the Drive-in?

Totally recommended for one of those movies

that you don't have to see in IMAX 3D.

The Short Weekend

After a pretty busy week,
it was nice to enjoy a relaxing [and slightly warmer]
weekend at home.

A Relaxing Weekend

Back in September, Zion held a silent auction.

where Jeremiah and I purchased/won a weekend in Palm Springs.

We were supposed to use it by the end of the year,
but life has been pretty busy the past couple months,
so luckily we were able to switch to this weekend.

We stayed at Agua Caliente in Rancho Mirage
where we were excited to get upgraded to a suite on the tenth floorThe view from our balcony was beautifulWe had zero plans all weekend. It was fabulous!
I actually went to bed on Friday night thinking
"what the heck are we going to do tomorrow?"
I can't remember the last time I thought that.

We ended up sleeping in, playing games, eating yummy food,
going on a couple walks, watching movies in bed, having long conversations
and going on our annual Cabazon outlet shopping excursion.

One of the cafes at the hotel had a pretty sweet table
where we could play checkers, chess, pong, etc.
It was like a giant iPod table top. Rad!I played video 5-hand draw while Jeremiah hung out at the blackjack table.
I sat there for hours and only lost about 20 or 30 bucks.Who needs breakfast-in-bed or a hot tub
when you can have breakfast in your own private jacuzzi tub.We had lunch at The River
and enjoyed a walk in the sunshineWe also tried out a wine bar that came highly recommended from a dear friend
Even though we've been traveling like crazy,
it was a nice, relaxing weekend away.

And a pretty good way to start the new year,
if I do say so myself.

Here comes Monday...

Me loves the weekends

Remember that relaxing catch-up weekend I talked about?
I'd say that was a pretty fair prediction.

Aside from working until 7p on Friday,
the weekend consisted of things like:
Purchasing a new couch
A couple Starbucks stops
Catching up on DVR'd shows
Watching a few movies
Starting on Christmas cards
Stops at Home Depot, Lowe's and Ikea
Columbus Day gifts from Mom and Lys
A little bit of leisure reading in the sunshine
Dinner at my Parents' house
Football Games and MLB Playoffs
Christmas shopping
and a Sunset Double-Date Night on the Harbor

The sunset was beautiful.

Busy, Busy Bee

For some reason, this week,
well.. this month of July has felt insanely busy.

And with our trip coming up,
my To Do list just keeps
growing and growing and growing.

But really, who can complain?

DSC is back on the air waves starting Monday
We got to celebrate my sister's birthday twice,
once with Prado&Pajama Game
and again with Cheesecake Factory and an ice cream cake.
I saw a lovely sunset over the La Jolla Shores Tuesday night.
OTB has Watermelon Margaritas this summer.
We got to have dinner with Scott&Des this week
I enjoyed Inception on IMAX last night,
with my two favorite men.
Our homebuying project is nearing success.
We've got a pretty fun weekend coming up.
and...

We'll be playing in Maui oh-so-soon!!

Dinner-and-a-Movie

Last night, the Hubs and I
kicked off the long weekend with
a Dinner-and-a-Movie Date

We made a small summer feast
and enjoyed carne asada, baked beans,
corn on the cob, grilled asparagus
fresh watermelon, and raspberry lemonade


Then we headed off
to see Toy Story 3 in 3D


When I was sick last week,
I re-watched the first two,
but I must say,
they really nailed it with the third one.

I laughed, I cried
I absolutely LOVED it!

You must go see it, ASAP.

T'was lovely!

Lovey Dovey

Jeremiah and I have never really been too big on Valentine's Day. Since my birthday is 10 days before and his birthday is 18 days after, we tend to celebrate the day of lovers with a simple dinner and a pair of "I love yous."

Especially with Jeremiah studying, this year wasn't much different except that this is the first year that I got to make dinner for him in our own little apartment.

To be honest, I have more fun setting the table than anything else. Here are a couple snapshots of our shrimp alfredo and pesto cheese bread.



And of course, a lovey gift: Smittens, heart-shaped Resees, PS: I Love You and a fun card.



After, we went to see Valentine's Day and we finished the night with Jack Bauer and the Olympics. 'Twas delightful.

PS: You might notice there are no pictures of us. I just happened to wear my pajamas all day -- even to the movies! =]

Round Two is this evening. My sweet husband is taking me to the Brig and we'll come back to enjoy strawberries, bananas and mini bundt cakes dipped in chocolate peanut butter fondue.

Halloween Weekend

Gosh, we're such the Old-Married-Couple already. This weekend, we didn't go to any parties, or dress up. We didn't even carve pumpkins or buy any Halloween candy to hand out. Instead we relaxed, spent good time with family, and enjoyed some tasty treats. That's my kind of fun anyway.

Friday: I came home from work to find that my sweetheart of a husband had cleaned the bathroom, unloaded the dishwasher, taken out the trash, and hung up a new project I had just finished (without asking!) While Jeremiah studied, I watched, count-em, 4 episodes of Gilmore Girls and then cooked a lovely little Thanksgiving-like Dinner: parmesan chicken (which is totally similar to turkey ;-)), stuffing, sweet potato casserole and green beans. Jeremiah even joined me to watch The Proposal. Quite the relaxing evening at home.

Saturday: I woke up early on Saturday to do some stuff from work and ended up cleaning the house all morning while I watched old Halloween movies on tv. I also made some chocolate chip pumpkin bread and made a trip to Michael's to pick up some new crafting supplies. Now that Halloween's out of the way, I'm definitely diving into Christmas mode at full speed. We spent the evening at my parent's house, where we enjoyed a yummy little dinner and opened the door to the most adorable trick-or-treaters on the pla-net. My favorite was the cutest little blonde boy, probably about 2 or 3, who was dressed as a beautiful butterfly. It made my heart flutter.


Sunday: With daylight savings time ending, Jeremiah and I were well-rested and up bright and early on Sunday morning. We decided to watch Sunshine Cleaning while we enjoyed tea/coffee and some of that tasty pumpkin bread. Then I headed out for Ali's Birthday Brunch. I could have spent the rest of the afternoon, flopped on the couch, watching the Chargers beat the Raiders, but we went up to Fallbrook to spend some time with the in-laws. Dinner. Card Games. And a rockin Magic Show. It was a great way to end our weekend -- though i strongly believe weekends should not end.

Now it's Monday, but alas, the sun was shining brightly when I woke up and the smell of Christmas fills my office.
