Date 32: Domenic's

Having eaten pasta multiple times a day while we were in Italy,
we were having major withdrawls shortly after we got home.

We had driven past a little Italian place called Domenic's almost daily,
but it's an unassuming place that had never really caught our attention.
Our quest for Italian food brought us there
and HO-LY YUM.

The atmosphere is authentic.
The garlic knots are delish.
And the Spaghetti all'Amatriciana rivals anything we tasted in Italy itself.

I'll cut to the chase.
We don't drive right on past this place anymore.

What a little gem.
And right down the street from our house... :)

2010 for 2010.

For my 2010th post, I thought I'd look back on my goals for 2010:
(you know, because I'm obsessed with numbers, dates and cool patterns like that!)

1. Learn to sew: In February, I started taking a sewing class 4 hrs a week. It's down in Loma so not only do I get to learn something new, but I also get to drive the 5 South once a week and meet a few new friends. I'm already starting to see the first fruits of my labor and am so excited to see what else I can make.
2. Go to the East Coast and visit friends: This trip is definitely in the works. And as we've started to look at flights, hotels and itineraries, we've started to find we have more people to visit than we originally thought. I'm really looking forward to playing in the city and spending some time with friends.
3. Practice Italian: I can't lie... I haven't even opened my book.
4. Memorize a verse of Scripture each week: I tried this once during the month of January. It's hard. For now, I've taken to reading Scripture every day. That's been quite a bit more successful and a refreshing way to start my morning.
5. Continue to go the the gym consistently (duh!): I've struggled with this since the third week in January. I'm just so exhausted from the week that I can barely find time for the gym. Excuses, excuses...
6. Try a few new craft tutorials: Well, now that I've started sewing I think there are even more exiting tutorials to try. Between my sewing machine and my new crafting chest, I'm oozing with ideas (some of which will manifest themselves in wedding gifts this summer!)
7. Visit our grandparents a couple times: We're heading up to see them this weekend and we'll be seeing them again in both May and June.. Since it's not always easy to go up for the weekend, I've taken to chatting with both sets of grandparents each week. Maternal on Tuesday. Paternal on Wednesday. I'm loving it and it sounds like they are too!
8. Make more new recipes: This is one of the easiest goals I've ever set. I'm such a fresh-food, creative-food junkie that I can't help but make new things. On a few occasions this has meant we've had dinner at 8p because I was committed to trying a new recipe that takes over an hour and a half. So far, some of the new recipes I've made this year are: Strawberry Cupcakes, Snickerdoodle Cupcakes, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Sliders with Homemade Chipotle Mayo, Lemon Pine Nut Green Beans, Meaty Chili, Seafood Stuffed Baked Potatoes and Crockpot Tacos.
9. Work hard: Check!
10. Love harder
: I'm learning.
