Maverick

Last weekend, Jeremiah's wing-man Mav celebrated 27 years of life.

Our friend Taylor through him a festive little shindig at her house
before we headed out to Temecula to go clubbin'.

Yes, I'm white.
And Yes, I just said clubbin'.

Her porch was beautifully decorated for the Falland little decorations were popping up all over the place
A quick picture of the birthday boy before dinner
and of course there were cupcakes
How else would we sing Happy Birthday?
What party is complete without a frosting fight?
The calm before the storm
But of course... sweet little Ellie playing on Bacon's phone.
That girl has some mad tech skills
Happy Birthday, Maverick!

Thanks for making me stay up way past my bedtime.
and thanks for being such a gosh-darn-fun person to celebrate.

We love you!!

SYTYCD Finaleeee

Who did you vote for last night?

{*}
I'm a fan of miss Melanie.

And I just loved the little interviews
they did during last night's show.

Highlight.

Please welcome your.....judges!

[SYTYCD Spoiler Alert]

I have a rather strict bed time.
Not because I live with any sort of controlling authorities,
but because I'm a grandma and a bit of a crank
if I don't get a full 8 hours each night.
I know, I know, lame -- but true.

Needless to say,
I have been getting about 6 hours
the past few nights.
And drinking coffee (yes, coffee) each morning.

Why, you ask?
Because I've been watching
hours upon hours of SYTYCD

There is something so absolutely and profoundly beautiful
about the richness of authentic movement.

And was I happy with last night's results?
Of Course!

I've been picking up the phone for LoFro all along.
Congratulations, Lauren!

Pitter Patter

I'm typically not a fan of the rain.
I'm an 85 and sunny kind of girl.

But this morning, Aubrey and I enjoyed a nice little walk in the rain (San Diego rain, that is) before taking shelter at Panera for some toasty bagels. And the rained seemed to be a necessary part of our walk today. I wish I could give it the explanation it deserves.

Aubrey isn't your typical girl, your typical Christian, your typical.. well, anything. She's not typical. And I love her a hundred times for that.

She makes my brain stretch three sizes with every minute of conversation. She asks the tough questions. She ponders them thoughtfully. And she communicates honestly. Aubrey wrestles with social norms, but at the same time seems to have an appreciation for them. I cherish her raw thoughts, her quirky ideas, and her passion and zeal for life.

Today, the rain seemed to compliment our time together quite nicely. And it played a lovely tune on the window pane as we sat together, snuggled up inside, watching YouTube videos of some of our favorite SYTYCD moments.

It really was a beautiful Saturday morning. With a beautiful friend of mine.

Aubs, don't kill me for posting this picture. :) It's classic.
