V-day, baby!

Since the Lover's holiday
is only ten days after my birthday
and about two and a half weeks before Jeremiah's,
we tend to lay pretty low for Valentine's Day.
No big extravagant dinners or weekends away for us.

This year, we celebrated with a Sunday date day.
We went to church,
enjoyed lunch at Elephant Bar,
went on a hike at Torrey Pines State Park,
walked along the beach, took an afternoon nap,
enjoyed a romantic dinner at home,

opened little gifts, washed each others' feet,
and enjoyed a living room after party
complete with Resee's s'mores,
fresh Farmers's Market flowers from the hubs, and a movie by candlelight.

It was the perfect Sunday together...
worshiping God, enjoying creation,
and humbling ourselves.

Much Needed.

Especially given the kind of night we had the day before.
Let's just say we each had to ask for
an extra helping of forgiveness
after the way we treated each other.

How are you celebrating Valentine's Day?

The Proof

Okay, one more post then I promise our hike will be history.
I just wanted to share some pictures
that Justin & Steph had developed.
Gotta love the good ol' fashion underwater film cameras.

The unbrushed hair, no makeup look is pretty hot too.

Hiking the rugged terrainGotta stop for a quick picture or two

One of the many times we crossed the river

All of us in front of the Bridge to Nowhere

The boys filtering more water for our trip back

Fighting our way through poison oak in Rattlesnake Canyon

Our studly men about to enter the abandoned mine
(headlamps and all!)

The beautiful waterfall we hiked to

Our silly husbands playing in the waterfall before lunch

The whole gang near the end of the hike

Thanks again, Lowells.
You ready for round two?

Because it's Monday

Some of my favorite moments over the past few days:

Chocolate Covered Strawberries + Cricket Crafting + Sister
Our Hiking Adventure with the Lowells
In-&-Out. Very tasty, though I still don't understand all the hype
Amra's play-by-play. (Thanks, dad!)
Going to bed at 9p Saturday night
A quiet and productive Sunday morning
Some time to read
Homemade Banana Berry Pancakes
Homemade sugar-free shaved ice. Mmm!
The swimming pool
A chat with a good friend (who's getting married on Friday!!!)
A lazy day of movies and games
Being well-rested
Hearing the barista say "the usual?"
The "DO NOT PAY" note on our SDG&E bill. God bless credits
Sunshine all weekend
Only two meetings today
A mini date with the hubs tonight

Happy Monday!

Exhausted & Sore

Jeremiah and I are pretty exhausted and achy tonight after spending the day hiking the San Gabriel Mountains with the Lowells.

We weren't exactly sure what to expect until Justin sent us a detailed 13-hour itinerary with warnings about rattlesnakes, poison oak, and twenty or so river-crossings in almost waist-deep water. After getting that, we not only knew what to expect, but we knew that it was going to be a very long day.

We got up before 5a to make the 2hr drive up to our hike spot. We hiked up and in about 5 miles to the Bridge to Nowhere where some crazy folk were bungee jumping off the bridge. After making our own trail through a great mess of poison oak in Rattlesnake Canyon, Scoutmaster Lowell led us through an old gold mine and up to a gorgeous waterfall for lunch. It was so fun to go with someone who was knowledge about the area and insanely prepared for pretty much anything.

I can't wait to get the pictures developed from the underwater camera. Who knew something so gorgeous could be in the middle of Satan's Armpit! Pictures to come!!

Take a Hike

After church today,
Jeremiah and I grabbed some lunch
and headed over to Torrey Pines to hike.
